Republicans, Please Convince Me?
Question by : Republicans, please convince me?
I’m not an American, but if i were I would be pro-democrats.
Unfortunately, I have a debate coming up and I’m expected to defend the republican party.
So, republicans (or anyone who knows of the republicans’ stance) please give me the pros of your political beliefs in terms of any or all of the following:
stem cell research
the environment
health care
poverty
marijuana and prescription drugs
abortion
Clarification: by poverty, I mean: how do you plan on tackling it?
Thank you for the replies. A combination of research and your answers has given solid arguments for everything but healthcare and drugs. Can someone please elaborate on those two points?
Also, I know that constitutionally America is secular. But is the GOP officially/publicly associated with any one certain religion? I thought it was known that the GOP is, basically, a Christian party. But, upon further research, I (think) that I have found that it isn’t.

1) We favor stem cell research – just not using aborted babies for research. That is barbaric!
2) We favor the environment – many of us believe the new regulations are to control business and monopolize and put under government control – not help the environment.
3) We believe health care should be privatized but it was in bad need of an overhaul to make it more competitive and affordable.
4) Who is in favor of poverty? We believe that people who can’t work, even can’t find jobs, should receive assistance. But people who can work, should work.
5) We are against abuse of drugs………….and it is a crisis in our country.
6) Most Republicans (including me) believe abortion is murder. Prevent the pregnancy………..don’t murder the baby.

About Poverty, I would ask you, what is the truly the best course? Giving the unfortunate more government assistance programs to become dependent on? Or helping them find a job by helping business and creating a more business friendly environment. It’s easy to say your helping the poor by giving them assistance, but not so easy when you use those same resources to create an environment to help the economy thrive and help folks get back to work and support themselves.
On Abortion, the GOP is all about Personal Responsibility. Sure, the women has sexual freedom. She is free to choose to have sex. But when the consequences come due, abortion is all about escaping personal responsibility, and sadly, the one who must pay that price is the unborn baby.
On Stem Cell Research, it’s actually embryonic stem cell research that the GOP has a problem with. See my abortion paragraph on the reason why.
On environment, we’ve already attacked the things where we’ve gotten the biggest bang for our buck. In my lifetime, I’ve seen dramatic improvement. And truth be told, Republicans were instrumental in that. Nixon created the EPA and signed the first Clean Water and Clean Air Acts. Yet today, what do we see? Expensive programs to limit CO2, which every life form on earth (other than plants and algae) produce. Plans that will cost business $ 90 Billion that will only remove the tiniest bit of smog. The Republican position is simple, there needs to be a reasonable cost-benefit balance for new regulations.
I disagree with the GOP on drugs, so I won’t defend that.
