Cocaine Habit: Peer Pressure Often Starts a Cocaine Habit
by picr
Often a cocaine habit starts with the challenge “try it you’ll like it”. Teens are especially susceptible to desiring the altered mind feeling, the feel good feeling. And they are more prone to fall for the peer pressure encouraging them to try it.
However many adults also fall for the same challenge. Especially if they are looking for something to blot out some kind of problem they are facing, and can’t find any peace in their dilemma.
Many who are addicted to cocaine, or any drug for that matter, will often encourage others to use it. It gives them comfort to have friends who also do what they do. As with any situation, misery seeks misery.
Many fall for peer pressure in a down situation because they have lost their self respect and feel like they are a loser. They are looking for someone to reassure them that they understand and often that someone just sends them down the wrong path. Often those who are in this situation will not turn to the ones who care the most for them, but turn to the peer pressure from the ones they are around at the time.
Many who suffer from low self esteem are emotionally unstable and are seeking relief from the mental pain they suffer from. It is easy for them to fall for peer pressure because they do not have enough self confidence to say no. They see the drugs as an easy way to cope with the suffering they are experiencing.
What peer pressure does, is cause those who are weak to forget common sense, responsibility and their principles all of which they know as wrong and go for the easy way out. You should seek out someone, who you look up to, which will back you up when others pressure you to take drugs. Each time you resist the peer pressure and say no, it naturally becomes easier the next time they pressure you to say no again.
Be bold enough to set some boundaries and limits on what you will do. Then communicate them to your friends, and when they put on the peer pressure, you will know which ones are not your true friends. Your friends will respect your boundaries and those who do not will show that they do not care for you. If they still force you and pressurize you, do not be afraid to leave the group. This should be awake up call that you are in the wrong group!
Do not let peer pressure start you down the wrong road to a cocaine habit, or any other habit which will harm you.
