i take tegretol and i think it works better for me. my friend takes depakote which is said to be safer. i guess it depends on the type of problems your experiencing.
tegretol works well for temporal lobe seisures, complex partial and even bi polar disorder.

They are both anti-convulsants meds, and are most commonly used as treatments for epilpesy and/or bipolar/mental issues. Both may present side effects including sleepiness, diarrhea, headache, and the doctors prescribing the meds should follow closely especially when the patient first starts taking ANY new med.
